Feed Quality Assurance Scheme - Application Form

Why Join FQAS?

As Bord Bia strengthens its universal Primary Producer Standard, all livestock feed must be sourced from FQAS-certified suppliers. Membership ensures your customers stay compliant and positions your business as a trusted partner in Ireland's quality-assured supply chain. Benefits include:

  • Listing on the publicly accessible Bord Bia FQAS Member Register
  • Right to use FQAS certified member branding on your website, letterheads, vehicles, and signage
  • Demonstrates compliance with Bord Bia producer scheme requirements
  • Access to templates, procedures, and records via the members portal
  • Certification valid for up to 5 years with annual surveillance audits

Already hold an equivalent certification (e.g. UFAS)?

Routine Bord Bia audits are not required. A reduced membership fee applies, and you receive all the benefits of full FQAS membership. You must still register — select your category below to apply. See Appendix 4 of the FQAS Standard for a list of recognised equivalent schemes.

Feed Supplier (Non-Manufacturing) Application

Apply for Exemption

Applies to any company or individual that is involved in the manufacturing of compound feeds, minerals/vitamin supplements, or other feedstuffs which are sold or traded to farmers, other companies or to other organisations/personnel in the feed supply chain.

Applies to any company or individual involved in the trade, importation, or sale of compound feeds, mineral/vitamin supplements, feed materials (including food by-products), or other feedstuffs relevant to the scope of the Standard. For example:
  • Importers of feed or feed ingredients.
  • Merchants trading in grain or bulk feeds.
  • Companies trading in food by-products (e.g. brewers' grain, bread).
Applies to any company or individual that deals exclusively in sealed/bagged feed products (e.g. bags or buckets) sourced from a certified manufacturer or a member of another recognised feed assurance scheme, and is not acting as an importer. Exempt members will be listed on the Bord Bia FQAS register.

Example: A merchant selling only bagged feed purchased from a certified manufacturer.


Note:

Certification under the Feed Quality Assurance Scheme (FQAS) is site specific. Where there are multiple premises controlled by one company, a separate application will be required for each premises that trades in animal feed.

Certified members may use the Certified Member Logo in accordance with the Bord Bia Logo Use Policy, and each use must be approved in advance by Bord Bia.

Under FQAS Rev02, certification is valid for up to 5 years, with an annual surveillance audit to maintain your certification.

What Happens Next?

Once you submit your application, Bord Bia will review it and contact you to schedule your initial audit (where applicable). Following a successful audit, you will receive your certification and be listed on the FQAS Member Register.
