Applies to any company or individual that is involved in the manufacturing of compound feeds, minerals/vitamin supplements, or other feedstuffs which are sold or traded to farmers, other companies or to other organisations/personnel in the feed supply chain.

Applies to any company or individual that is involved in the supply, sale or importation of feed, feed materials (including food by-products such as brewers grain, bread etc.) or complementary feeds. e.g.:
  • Importers of feed or feed ingredients.
  • Merchants trading in grain or bulk feeds.
  • Companies trading in food by-products.
Applies to company or individual that only deals in sealed feed product and is not acting as an importer can apply for an exemption and be listed as a feed supplier on the Bord Bia website. e.g. Merchant selling only bagged feed purchased from a Certified Manufacturer


Certification under the Feed Quality Assurance Scheme (FQAS) is site specific. Where there are multiple premises controlled by one company, a separate application will be required for each premises that trades in animal feed.

Certified members of the scheme are required to have product liability insurance in place at all times and shall ensure that Bord Bia is indemnified under such insurance. Evidence of insurance will be sought as part of the certification process.
